digiClips clip-on extensometers

digiClips is available in four different versions for extension and/or change-in-width measurement. These extremely efficient and cost-effective extensometers offer significant advantages over strain-gage systems in terms of measuring range, accuracy and signal processing.

The digital system delivers uniform accuracy over the entire gage length. digiClips' compact design is made possible by miniaturizing the digital scale. In addition the extremely lightweight measurement system is located very close to the specimen, minimizing loading on the specimen.

Long and short-travel clip-on extensometer

This digital clip-on extensometer is suitable for precise modulus and yield-point determination to ISO 527-1 on rigid and semi-rigid plastics and for determining strain at maximum stress plus strain at break on rigid plastics with low extension. It can remain attached to plastic and composites specimens up to break.

Advantages of digiClips

  • suitable for determining compressive strength of plastics or Young's modulus for compression on metals
  • measuring range can be set to enable optimum use of measurement travel for both tensile and compression tests
  • maximum error +/-­ 1µm in differential movement measurement between two measuring points in a range from 20 µm to 200 µm, completely satisfying the additional requirement to ISO 527­-1 (2011)
  • Accuracy Class 0.5 to EN ISO 9513
  • calibrated from 20 μm measurement travel in Class 0.5
  • patented clip-on extensometer, available exclusively from Zwick
